Braai Uie Skons
Ingredients
- *Dough:**
- 250 g plain flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp mustard powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 310 ml milk
- *Cheese sauce/topping:**
- 315 ml grated cheese
- 4 tsp mustard powder
- 310 ml milk
- 125 g butter
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Sift the flour, baking powder, mustard powder, salt and pepper; add the milk and mix to form a batter.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into a greased ovenproof dish.
- For the sauce:
- Combine grated cheese, mustard, milk and butter in a saucepan and heat gently until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.
- Spoon the cheese sauce over the scones.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes at 180°C until browned.
