Krummel Vis (Crumbed Fish with Cream Sauce)
Krummel Vis
Ingredients
- Butter for greasing the oven dish
- 600 g white fish portions, lightly salted
- 375 ml dry breadcrumbs
- 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
- 3 tsp chopped parsley
- 3 spring onions, chopped
- 3 tsp mayonnaise
- 0.5 cup grated cheese
- 0.75 cup cream (for pouring)
- Black pepper
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180–200°C.
- Grease an oven dish, add the fish portions and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Mix the breadcrumbs with the chopped garlic, parsley, spring onion, mayonnaise and the grated cheese to form a paste.
- Spread this crumb mixture over the fish and bake for 10 minutes at 200°C.
- Remove from the oven, pour 0.75 cup cream over the fish and season with black pepper.
- Bake for a further 10–15 minutes at 180°C until the topping is crisp and brown.
